A wave of contractor failures swept through solar and home improvement in 2023–2026, and San Diego took it hard. Titan Solar Power, PetersenDean, Sungevity, Kuubix, Sunworks, Suntuity — some closed with warning, most without. Roofing wasn't spared either: Sears' installed-products business wound down, and in 2026 RSI Roofing — a San Diego fixture for nearly forty years — went quiet without an announcement.

If the company that installed your panels or your roof no longer answers the phone, you own what the industry calls an orphaned system: work that's still on your house, with no contractor of record behind it.

We service orphaned roofs and solar systems across San Diego County. We're not affiliated with any failed company and didn't acquire anyone's assets — we're a local contractor, at this since 1981, that picks up where they left off.

What a contractor's closure actually means

The workmanship warranty is typically gone. The promise that covered roof penetrations, flashing, wiring, and racking usually has no company left to honor it. (That's the practical reality, not legal advice.)

Manufacturer warranties usually survive. Shingle and roofing-material warranties run from the manufacturer to you. Panel, inverter, and battery warranties come from Enphase, SolarEdge, and the module makers — all healthy, operating companies. The catch: filing a claim usually requires a licensed contractor to diagnose the failure, pull the part, and complete the paperwork. We handle that legwork for our customers, and in many cases we can replace failed equipment at no cost to you under the manufacturer's warranty. Our inspection report tells us whether you qualify.

Your monitoring may have quietly gone dark. If your installer set up Enphase Enlighten or SolarEdge monitoring under its own account, alerts may have stopped the day it closed. Plenty of orphaned systems underproduce for months before anyone notices.

Your loan or lease didn't go anywhere. Financing survives the contractor's failure — which is exactly why a dead system or a leaking roof deserves urgency.

A $399 roof and solar inspection report — credited toward your job — production audit, wiring and connector inspection, and a look at every flashing detail and roof penetration the original crew made, with the findings in writing.
Diagnostics and repair under an active C-10 electrical license — failed microinverters, optimizers, arc faults, rapid-shutdown issues, and the manufacturer warranty claims that go with them.
Roof leak repair and replacement — under our own written warranty, from a company that's been here since 1981.
Monitoring restoration — getting your Enphase or SolarEdge portal back under your control.
Detach-and-reset for reroofs — roofing (C-39), general building (B), and electrical (C-10) under one license, so one crew removes the array, replaces the roof, and reinstalls the system without finger-pointing between two contractors.
Battery retrofits — adding storage to an existing array, sized for NEM 3.0 economics.

Why act now rather than wait

An unmonitored system can underproduce for months without anyone noticing — and lost production is money you paid for, often while a loan payment continues either way. A roof with a workmanship problem doesn't announce itself until water is already inside.
