What happened to Secure Roofing & Solar?
Secure Roofing & Solar was a San Marcos contractor — in business since the late 2000s, working roofs, siding, and solar across North County from its shop on Rancheros Drive. In 2016 it was absorbed into a publicly traded roll-up of roofing and solar companies, and over the years that followed, the parent company restructured, divested, and wound down its San Diego residential operations. Today the BBB lists Secure Roofing & Solar as no longer in business, and its state contractor license — which carried general building, roofing, and solar classifications — has been cancelled.
If Secure installed or repaired your roof, or put solar on it, the company that gave you that warranty isn't there to answer the phone anymore.
What that means for you
The workmanship warranty has no home. With the entity out of business and the license cancelled, the labor warranty on your roof or solar install is a promise without a company. Corporate parents and successors generally don't assume those obligations unless they say so explicitly — and we found no such commitment on record.
Materials and equipment warranties usually survive. Shingle and roofing-material warranties run from the manufacturer; solar panel and inverter warranties run from their makers. Both typically require a licensed contractor's documentation to file a claim — and in many cases we can replace failed solar equipment at no cost to you under the manufacturer's warranty. Our inspection report tells us whether you qualify.
What we do for Secure's former customers
- A $399 roof and solar inspection report — credited toward your job — every flashing detail, penetration, and (if you have solar) the wiring and production picture, documented in writing.
- Leak repair and roof maintenance — under our own written warranty, from a company that's been in San Diego since 1981.
- Solar diagnostics and repair — under an active C-10 electrical license, with the manufacturer claim legwork handled.
- Repair vs. replace, honestly — North County roofs from Secure's era range from mid-life to due; we'll tell you which yours is and show you why.
- Roofing and solar as one job — B, C-10, and C-39 under one license: one crew, one warranty, no finger-pointing.
