The short answer: Horizon Solar Power shut down in January 2020 and never came back

Horizon Solar Power ceased operations in January 2020 amid the collapse of its parent company, Sungevity Energy Holdings, and did not resume business. The Temecula-based installer had been one of Southern California's higher-volume residential solar companies, with a heavy footprint across the Inland Empire and San Diego County. Its final chapter was tied to Sungevity's second failure: after the original Sungevity filed Chapter 11 in 2017, its brand was revived and combined with Horizon Solar Power under the Sungevity Energy Holdings umbrella. When that parent collapsed at the start of 2020 — before the pandemic, not because of it — Horizon's phones, service department, and customer support went down with it. There was no acquirer who stepped in to take over Horizon's Southern California service obligations.

None of this reflects on the crews who put your panels up. Plenty of Horizon systems were installed well and are still producing. The problem is simply that the company that promised to stand behind the work no longer exists.

We don't hold Horizon's customer records or original contracts, and we can't honor its warranties — no one can, because the company is gone. What we can do is get your system inspected, repaired, monitored, and producing again under our own license and our own workmanship guarantee.

What Horizon's closure means for your system

Your workmanship warranty is typically gone. The labor and roof-penetration warranty Horizon sold with your installation was a promise from Horizon, and a company that ceased operations more than five years ago typically cannot be made to honor it. Your manufacturer warranties usually survive. Horizon-era systems in this region commonly used SolarEdge string inverters with power optimizers or Enphase microinverters, paired with Hanwha Q CELLS-generation modules. Those equipment warranties come from the manufacturers, not the installer, and SolarEdge, Enphase, and Qcells are all still in business and honoring claims. Panel product and performance warranties from that era typically run into the decades, and inverter warranties commonly run 10–25 years depending on the product. The catch: the manufacturer covers the replacement part, and you need a licensed contractor to diagnose the failure, file the claim, and do the swap. We handle that legwork for Horizon customers routinely — and in many cases we can replace failed equipment at no cost to you under the manufacturer's warranty. Our inspection report tells us whether you qualify.

Your monitoring may have gone dark. If Horizon set up your SolarEdge or Enphase monitoring account under its own dealer portal, you may have lost visibility when the company folded — some homeowners didn't notice their system had stopped producing for months. We can transfer monitoring to an account you own and control, so an outage never hides from you again.

• Manufacturer warranty claim legwork. We diagnose, document, file with SolarEdge, Enphase, or Qcells, and install the replacement.
• Monitoring restoration. Get your production data back in your own hands.
• Detach-and-reset for reroofs. One crew removes the array, reroofs, and reinstalls — no finger-pointing between a roofer and a solar company.
